Computer Assisted Instruction in Class a and Class Aa Elementary Music Classrooms in Southwest Missouri

The purpose of this study was to discover how elementary music teachers in Southwest Missouri are using computers in the classroom. A questionnaire was compiled and sent to the elementary music instructors of class A and class AA schools in Southwest Missouri. The results of the questionnaire showed that only one instructor uses Computer Assisted Instruction in their music classroom. Other instructors gave such reasons as poor access to a computer, lack of materials for music, and a general lack of knowledge about computers, for not using Computer Assisted Instruction in the music classroom. Computers are used by some instructors for administrative tasks. These results show a need for increased workshop training on computers and more money budgeted for computer equipment and materials for music educators.
