Van ID naar 3D: besluitvormingsprocessen en beslissingsmacht bij stadsontwikkelingsprojecten
Abstract
dc:descriptionIn this project we developed theoretical knowledge concerning decision-making processes, strategic planning, urban governance networks and power configurations in urban development projects in Flemish cities. Beside thorough literature study and document analysis, we've chosen for qualitative research. The result of this research led to insights usefully for academicians and local policy (in particular in Flemish cities). The qualitative research is done in the city of Kortrijk. By means of dozens interviews (i.c. with politicians, civil servants and other actors who have an impact on the policy of the city) and thorough study of (policy) documents we made a reconstruction of the decision-making process of three large urban projects. This multiple case study shows that formal plans fail to lead, that urban projects are crossroad dossiers within a tangle of interstrategic processes in and outside the city, that interconnectivity is crucial for decision-making, that rational-normative approaches remain consequently unfulfilled, etc.
