Cissampelos sympodialis EICHL. (Menispermaceae): avaliação das atividades antimotilidade e antidiarreica in vivo.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractCissampelos sympodialis (Menispermaceae), known as "Milona" have a special verified medicinal use for the treatment of diarrhea and respiratory tract diseases. This species is rich in alkaloids , secondary metabolites that add the most diverse pharmacolo gical activities , among alkaloids isolated from C. sympodialis out to warifteíne and metilwarifteíne . This study aims to evaluate the antimotility and antidiarrheal activity of the crude ethanolic extract obtained from aerial parts of C. sympodialis (EtOH E - Cs ), by means of models of gastric emptying , intestinal normal transit and castor oil - induced diarrhea. The first two models evaluated the antimotility activity whi le the model of castor oil - induced diarrhea was used to evaluate the antidiarrheal activit y by means of the latter was investigated the possible mechanism of action of antidiarrheal activity of the species under study. The results indicated that the EtOHE - Cs not shown antimotility activity but showed antidiarrheal activity (at the dose of 500 m g/kg) . This activity is related to the reduction in the a ccumulation of intestinal fluid . The antidiarrheal activity can be attributed to chemical compounds already isolated and quantified in this species, mainly alkaloids.
