Cantando, dançando e aprendendo: cantigas de roda na educação infantil

The work presents a field research about the importance and the use of Nursery Rhymes in the Childhood Education. At first, we have tried to approach the aspects of the Childhood Education talking briefly about the history, the offering and its role in the Brazilian Society. As far as the use of Nursery Rhymes on the Teaching-Learning Process in Childhood Education classes, some aspects were discussed in that the musical language can act in the psychological, sociological, physical and cognitive areas of the child. By means observations of classes and interviews with a music teacher, it is noticed the importance of Nursery Rhymes as an excellent way for developing the expression and the balance of body, besides the self-esteem and self- knowing. Furthermore, it was possible to find that the Nursery Rhymes in common classes promote the social integration and rescue the local culture.
