At first, we have tried to approach the aspects of the Childhood Education talking briefly about the history, the offering and its role in the Brazilian Society. As far as the use of Nursery Rhymes on the Teaching-Learning Process in Childhood Education classes, some aspects were discussed in that the musical language can act in the psychological, sociological, physical and cognitive areas of the child. By means observations of classes and interviews with a music teacher, it is noticed the importance of Nursery Rhymes as an excellent way for developing the expression and the balance of body, besides the self-esteem and self- knowing. Quanto à utilização das cantigas de roda no processo ensino – aprendizagem em salas de Educação Infantil foram discutidos aspectos em que a linguagem musical pode atuar, como nas áreas psicológica, sociológica, física e cognitiva da criança. Através da observação das aulas e entrevista com o professor de música, constatou-se a importância das cantigas de roda como excelente meio para o desenvolvimento da expressão e equilíbrio corporal, da auto estima e do autoconhecimento.
