Abstract
dc:description.abstractResearch problems presented in this thesis were suggested by a term paper prepared for English 250, Present Day Poetry, taught by Dr. A. J. Armstrong in the summer of 1940. A brief study of Greek and Roman mythology in modern poetry was made by examining the anthology, The New Poetry, edited by Harriet Monroe and Alice Corbin Henderson. Although some facts regarding the use of mythology by present day poets were shown, there was insufficient evidence for general conclusions. The result, therefore, is this more detailed study of Greek and Roman mythology in the poetry of today.
