Untersuchungen zu Telomerlängen bei Hodgkin- und Reed-Sternberg-Zellen
Abstract
dc:descriptionAs shown by the TRAP-assay, Hodgkin- and Reed-Sternberg cells exhibit telomerase activity, offering an unlimited proliferative capacity to them. The catalytic subunit of this enzyme can be inhibited by reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Analyses of telomere length directly by the Southern blot technique and indirectly by Telomere-FISH could demonstrate progressive telomere erosion. Ultrastructural analyses could show that cell death by telomerase inhibition is neither an apoptotic nor a paraapoptotic but a necrotic cell death. This phenomenon separates HRS-cells from other tumor cells and has not been described yet.
