Untersuchungen zur Kavitätenpräparation bei Keramikrestaurationen am Beispiel des Edge-up-Systems

Content of the present study was the preparation of 20 extracted maxillary central incisors with the Edge-Up[R]-System, a special preparation-set based on veneer-technique to prepare the tooth with special designed borers. The extent of tooth-reduction was measured macroscopically before and after preparation. The thickness of enamel and dentin, the reduction of enamel and the perforation of dentin were specified histologically, and evaluated by photographed pictures. The results of the examination show that the palatinal and labial tooth-reduction is less than the demanded 0,7 mm, but regarding the 211 histological slices 9% of the labial side and 58% of the palatinal side slices showed dentin-perforations, caused by reduced thickness of enamel. The adhesion of the ceramical restauration at this opened dentin parts is not warranted in the way like at an intact enamal surface. The knowledge about bonding and longevity, and therefore the success of the new ceramical restauration supported by new dentinal bonding agents will be examined and confirmed in further iinvestigations.
