New approaches to catalytic C-H and C-C bond cleavage with Ruthenium complexes
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe first part of the presented work deals with the synthesis and the characterization of the complexes [(IMes)Ru(H2)2(H)2(PCy3)] (1), [(IMes)2Ru(H2)2(H)2] (2) and its nitrogen derivative [(IMes)2Ru(H2)(N2)(H)2] (3) (IMes = 1,3-dimesityl-1,3-dihydro-2H-imidazol-2-ylidene). All the ruthenium complexes have been obtained in crystalline form, thus allowing a full characterization of their structure by NMR techniques and by X-ray analysis. Complex 1 exhibits a unique reactivity pattern for intra- and inter-molecular activation of C-H bonds (H/D exchange, Murai reaction, hydrogenation of C=O and CN bonds). The second part of the work presented in the thesis focus on the olefin metathesis catalyzed by Grubbs catalyst [RuCl2(=CHPh)(PCy3)2] (4) successfully carried out in ionic liquid such as [emim][Tf2N] (1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide). The products can be isolated by extraction with common organic solvents such as pentane or with scCO2.
