Prosecution in Zambia: Why the failures?

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This research is a study of the Prosecution function in Zambia, it discusses the important role played by the Prosecutor in the Criminal Justice System and the various problems the Zambian Prosecutor faces. These problems have contributed to delays in dispensation of justice thereby eroding Public confidence in the system.A holistic approach is desirable in resolving the problems that are encountered by the Criminal Justice System; Restructuring the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will have far reaching effects as it will affect not only the Office itself but all other investigative wings. It is hoped that the problems discussed will supplement the efforts of the authorities in their quest to improve operations of the DPP's office and it is submitted that with the requisite political will and a complete restructuring of that office, the Public will once again develop confidence in the system.
