Fragments, as I Remember

Fragments, as I remember is a site-specific installation combining the following three memory cells: photographic images of dioramas derived from my memories; a film projection; and a sculpture composed of butterflies and a visual diary. The accompanying thesis support paper is written as both a journal of my creative thought process and an exposition of the research that thematically contextualizes my work. The paper indirectly unpacks specific elements that inform and inspire this work. It is a journal intended to contextualize my creative practices within my research on memory in relation to family albums. This research is informed by theorists such as Martha Langford, Matte Sandbye and Annette Kuhn, as well as Deborah Chambers notion of the gaps within the context of family albums.
