The tests performed in the laboratory to obtain the soil properties were: water content, Atterberg limits (liquid and plastic limits), grain size (sieve analysis and hydrometer), specific gravity, field density, and hydraulic conductivity. Tests were performed on soil samples taken from the site during installation of monitoring wells. Results from tests were used in the classification of soil. Additional samples were reconstructed to determine the permeability of the soil. These tests were performed in accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) standards. The classification of the soil was performed in accordance to AASHTO and Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) guidelines.
