Data was collected through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources grant titled, \"Quality Rating and Improvement for West Virginia Child Care.\" Quality was measured using the Family Child Care Environmental Rating Scale (FCCERS), which has 38 items across 7 subscales including aspects specific to the family child care setting. Twenty-nine family child care facilities and 55 family child care homes participated in the study. Family child care homes scored lower than facilities on all subscales of the FCCERS.
