Through these female characters, I analyze the process of migration as a disruptive force that complicates Lucy’s and Amabelle’s various identities. The issues they face because of their transition inspires a process of self-discovery. As a result, they choose to reside in spaces of emptiness, allowing them to have no identity placement at the end of their journeys. The ideal solution would be to join their new and old identities together in order to create their individuality.
