Using Digital Pheromone to Improve the Hitting Time Performance of Mobile Agent-Based Systems
Abstract
dc:description.abstractA flexible and lightweight approach is needed to address security concerns on large networks with little computational resources to spare. A digital ant framework is one possible solution, modeled on the movement and interactions among ants of an ant colony using pheromone. However, the movement patterns of digital ants and the deposition rate of digital pheromone within this framework have a profound effect on the effectiveness of the system. In this thesis, specific digital ant movement patterns and digital pheromone deposition rates are examined and compared. How digital ants react to digital pheromone, the movement pattern of digital ants as they deposit digital pheromone, and the rate at which digital ants deposit digital pheromone are all considered.
