dc:description.abstractI examine the Viennese Arts and Crafts Movement as a case study for modern design theory during the first thirty years of the 20th century. I establish that through the implementation of innovative design concepts, manufacturing collaborations and retail experiments that the Wiener Werkstätte constitutes an important transition into modernity.
