Sustainable and Environmentally Responsible Future for Businesses and Society

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This submission highlights the intersection of financial innovation, knowledge capital, governance and resource sustainability for knowledge synthesis in the domain of responsible management. This study synthesises 11 interrelated studies, utilising rich cross-country and firm-level econometric investigations to examine how financial development, FinTech, higher education, institutional quality, and economic complexity contribute to sustainable outcomes. Empirically, these aspects were tested in isolation using Environmental Kuznets Curve, normative governance debates or resource curse frameworks. This study integrates them into a cohesive model of responsible management. The findings suggest that financial and digital innovation are potent drivers of climate resilience and ecological sustainability, which require robust governance. Knowledge-driven transitions, such asthose involving education and renewable energy adoption, have demonstrated decoupling capabilities. The thesis also includes the role of economic complexity in transforming resource dependence from a liability into an opportunity. Collectively, these studies establish a robust conceptual and empirical framework for responsible management, transitioning fragmented theorisation into evidence-based strategies for sustainable business and policy practice.
