This emerged from a research question about the way the everyday is constituted within my own practice and within contemporary theatre in Melbourne and overseas. The major component of the exegesis is to analyse my development as a writer and dramaturg of performance texts with Ranters Theatre over a twenty-two-year period, covering three phases of work, each of which engage everydayness as part of its methodology. A key focus is text dramaturgy, how the text is constructed, critiqued and dramaturged in order to create a finished performance text or novel.
