Individuals with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and those engaged in the tumultuous routine of shift-work experience reduced sleep and poorer sleep quality which is likely to render these consequences more pronounced. This study aimed to compare subjective and objective sleepiness, psychomotor performance, simulated driving performance and mood disturbances in OSA patients, shift-workers and control participants. This study also aimed to determine what relationships exist between subjective and objective sleepiness, performance and mood for the three groups and to obtain the correlates of accident risk based on a history of reported accidents in the preceding three years.","abstract_html":"Regardless of aetiology, constant sleep disruption results in wide-ranging negative consequences in sleepiness, psychomotor and driving performance, and mood.
