Although the international literature on professionals’ experiences of sexually abused children is considerable, Malaysian research is sparse. The current study sought to redress this imbalance by conducting a qualitative study, informed by a grounded theory approach to investigate how working with sexually abused children affects the lives of professionals both professionally and personally; the strategies, including coping strategies, professionals used to overcome the difficulties associated with their work and whether any characteristics of the Malaysian sociocultural context contributed to the difficulties they encountered.
