Unlike conventional systems, a concept referred to as Multiple-Input Multiple-Output or MIMO not only thrives under multipath conditions but also has the potential to allow for substantial increases in capacity. MIMO systems use a combination of multiple antenna arrays at the transmitter and receiver in conjunction with dedicated Digital Signal Processing (DSP). Before MIMO systems are designed and deployed, a database of typical propagation measurements is required to confirm theoretical predictions with reality.
