dc:description.abstractThe purpose of the thesis is to evaluate the government housing programs in rural India through assessing the problems/needs of the beneficiaries who belong to the poorest and most vulnerable group of the society. An adequate study of the needs and perceptions of this group is to be undertaken at a local level. The case study undertaken here is based on intensive field investigations conducted in ten villages of the western Uttar Pradesh state.
