Abstract
dc:description.abstractAfter menopause women experience an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. The work described in this thesis investigates the effects of exercise, hormonal therapy (HT) and rosiglitazone on cardiovascular risk variables, glucose and insulin levels and bone turnover markers. It was hypothesised that these interventions would independentiy improve parameters measured, whilst combined treatment would provide further benefit.
