A new method for calculating the flow field in a dump combustor

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

An elliptic/parabolic procedure for solving the flow field in a dump combustor is described. The elliptic calculation is used at the dump combustor entrance and a parabolic calculation downstream. The calculations are restricted to steady axisymmetric nonreactive incompressible flow. A great savings in computation time and computer storage is obtained with no observable compromise in accuracy.
