This resistance was found to be an autosomal, probably monofactorial character, not linked with the black body or orange body mutants that identify linkage groups 4 and 6. The trait was found to be incompletely recessive with a degree of dominance of -0.57. It was established that the gene is probably separate and distinct from the known trait <i>R-pyreth</i>, a pyrethrins resistance gene linked with black body in the linkage map of this organism.
