The communication of a disabled person and his family work is considered as educational interaction and precondition of social welfare for a person who has disability in the present. Family in disability situation is understood as an environment having exceptional significance for the education/self-education and the construction of social welfare for a disabled person emphasizing the role of communication. The aim of the research is to reveal the communication experiences of family members constructing the preconditions of education/self-education and social welfare for a person with Down syndrome. The main objectives of the research are as follows: to reveal the topics of communication with a disabled as the other in philosophical and pedagogical aspects; to explore family members’ experiences related with an early childhood of a person with Down syndrome; to describe the experiences of intercommunication of family members; to describe the educational strategies of a disabled child in the family constructing the child welfare; to explore the construction of the preconditions for social participation of a person with Down syndrome from the educational/self-educational in the family and the perspectives on social wefare viewpoint; to explore the experiences of a person with Down syndrome and his family members when communicating with the society. The participants of the research are a family of five members: father, mother, two sisters and their son/brother with Down syndrome. The main participants of the research are two sisters, father and mother. The methodology and methods of the research. Phenomenological quantitative research of the case employing the methods of semi-structured individual interview and auto narrative. Empirical data are processed using the method of content analysis. The main conclusions. From the very first days of the child’s birth the common world being constructed by the family is marked by pathos of disability. The experiences of the research participants arise as the risk factors of social disjuncture and as the efforts of a negotiation of disjuncture for the family and its member who has disability. An active “action model” is clearly directed towards a child with Down syndrome by family members. The child‘s care based on the concern of physical welfare is a dominant strategy of family communicating and at the same time the overcoming of negative experiences. The manifestations of monologue attitude and behaviour that disturb the communication have emerged, which are not very favourable strategies for the independent education/self-education of the family member with disability. Not only imperative but also usual everyday communication possibility is shown by the reflections of the family members’ experiences emerging from the mutual contact with the person with Down syndrome in several cases. While analyzing the experiences of the family interaction with society, the deficiency of emotional relationship with the environment (sympathy) and the needs for the unrealized professional help for the family have come out. The negative experiences related with certain institutions show up as factors that are not favourable for social and psychological family atmosphere and humiliating self-esteem of the family members.
