The Bachelor’s thesis analyses dietary supplements usage and opinion about dietary supplements among Siauliai university students. In research participated 103 Siauliai university students, 81 women and 22 men. The questionnaire consisted of 20 questions for students who use dietary supplements and 17 questions for those, who do not consume dietary supplements. In first part of the questionnaire respondents were asked to provide their demographic information (gender, age, course, rate of income). The second part of the questionnaire was to find out about students eating habits, their health status and stress frequency. The last part was to find out about whether they use dietary supplements and what reasons encourage that. Also tried to find out what type of supplements students uses and how often they are doing that. The survey showed that over past years almost half of the respondents consumed dietary supplements. A quarter of respondents used food supplements to improve their skin, nails and hair health. One fifth of respondent’s food supplements used in order to strengthen their body and also in order to increase the energy level. Students consume food supplements irrationally. Most of them believe that dietary supplements are effective, but not necessary. Almost all students who are taking food supplements think that they are effective. It was also found that student’s nutrition is not rational; they do not eat enough fruits and vegetables and eat too much meat products. To improve their nutritional status the majority of respondents would choose organic food products. So in order to improve our health we should choose healthy foods and focus on our diet. Food supplements should be used only after consultation with doctors and only when necessary.
