Abstract

dc:description

In today's continuously evolving field of information technology, society, a lack of physical activity is an increasingly common phenomenon. Pre-school education institutions are implementing projects, programmes that encourage children to live healthier lives and be more physically active. On 9 July 2019, the resolution "On the adoption of policy guidelines for the protection of health" issued by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania emphasizes the importance of promoting physical activity – it is essential to develop children's habits and skills to live physically active, and to develop programmes to promote physical activity in pre-school and pre-school education institutions. So, there are problematic questions: what is the importance of physical activity for a child's health and development? What is the situation and expectations of promoting physical activity in pre-school education? Object. Promotion of physical activity of children in pre-school education. Purpose. Analyse the situation of promoting physical activity in children aged 4-5 years in a pre-school institution. Tasks. 1. Theoretically define aspects of physical activity in children. 2. Analyse the importance of promoting physical activity in children in pre-school education. 3. Find out the opinion of the pre-school institution educators and parents about the situation of promoting physical activity in the pre-school education institution. 4. Identify the expectations of pre-school institution teachers and parents by promoting the physical activity of children in the pre-school institution. Research sampling and organization. The study involved 84 respondents: 41 pre-school educators and 43 parents raising pre-school children. Conclusions. It has been found that physical activity is often identified, not only as the natural need of the child, but also as one of the most important and most affecting factors affecting the child's health. The level of physical activity depends on the proper development of the body and its systems and organs, regular posture, disease prevention and mental and social development. In childhood, physical activity is stimulated during games. The game also helps mental development – allows the child to understand, know and express their emotions. Researchers describe the pre-school education institution as the main place where children's physical development is most able to develop, and to implement various interdisciplinary programmes that include the development of healthy lifestyle habits, physical education, and the prevention of health education. The results of the research show that most pre-school educators and parents are satisfied with the process of promoting physical activity in the pre-school institution. Respondents say that physical activity has a positive impact on the development and promotion of the child's various characteristics. The essential expectation of parents and educators is the pre-school education environment, more abundantly equipped with various, modern sports equipment. The expectations of the parents are more closely related to the individual education of children – they would like educators to pay more attention to the individual wishes of children, opportunities, organize more diverse and creative physical education activities, and allow children to participate in the organisation of activities. The expectations of educators– increased motivation of children, interest in sport, and a greater supply of various seminars and literature on the topic mentioned above. Key words: physical activity, preschool age, situation and expectations.
