Laws and documents regulating the content of the work clearly define the content of the social worker's activity from a theoretical point of view. However, in the practice of social work with people with mental disabilities, social workers face the problem of providing social services - mentally disabled clients who receive social services feel the need for social services not defined in the legal acts. In this context, it is crucial to analyze what the real content of a social worker's activities is when dealing with people with mental disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to investigate the content of social worker activities when dealing with persons with mental disabilities. The object of the thesis is social work with persons with mental disabilities. Objectives: 1. Discuss the theoretical definition of mental health and mental disability. 2. To distinguish the psychosocial traits and social needs of a person with mental disability. 3. Investigate the content of social worker activities when dealing with people with mental disabilities. Research methods: In the theoretical part of the work, in order to reveal the theoretical definition, legal regulation of social service provision in psychiatry and to distinguish ways of social worker working with persons with a mental disability, the analysis of scientific literature (data collection method) was performed. Scientific literature sources of Lithuanian and foreign authors, periodical scientific publications, official statistics, legal regulation documents were used. In the empirical part of the work, a semi-structured interview (data collection method) and content analysis method (document processing method) were chosen to study the content of social worker activities when working with persons with mental disabilities. Qualitative research access was applied in the thesis, which allowed a detailed analysis of the research object by interpreting the available data. Research participants: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 9 social workers working with people with mental disabilities.","abstract_html":"The research problem.
