Abstract
dc:descriptionThe paper analyzes immunization: its importance, significance and benefits to the human body. The author describes different types of vaccines and their negative and positive effects on humans. The hypothesis of the study was that the opinion of parents whose children are attending a pre-school institutions, about vaccination is negative, because of the lack of knowledge and they are reluctant to vaccinate their children. The study was attended by 104 parents of children attending pre-school education. The research instrument was an anonymous questionnaire consisting of 22 closed-ended questions. The questionnaire consisted of three question blocks. The study analyzed the parents' knowledge and opinion about vaccinations, and this issue was also compared to individual genders. Results: 1. The respondents' knowledge about immunization is good. Most parents know what their children are vaccinated with, what is a vaccine passport and why do children need to be vaccinated. Respondents' opinions on vaccines were diverse - respondents appreciate and know the benefits of vaccines. 2. Separate assessments of knowledge and attitudes of males and females to vaccinations suggest that women have more knowledge about vaccinations and are more in-depth in immunization than males. 3. The majority of respondents in the survey are positive about vaccinations. This approach to immunization is based on the correct knowledge of the vaccine: the benefits and importance of knowing. The negative attitude towards vaccines was based on a lack of knowledge and too much negative information in their environment. The hypothesis that the opinion of parents is negative about immunization is due to the lack of knowledge about vaccines has been proven only partially. The majority of respondents' opinions and knowledge about vaccinations were good, the proportion of respondents who opposed to vaccination had less knowledge about vaccines.
