The aim of research work: To evaluate nursing problems and applied practices for patients after prostate surgeries. Tasks of work. 1. Compare the subjective evaluation of it is own health for patients after prostate surgeries depending on demographic indexes. 2. Identify the most frequent nursing problems after prostate surgeries. 3. Discuss which of applied practices are used by nurses to solve problems for patients after prostate surgeries. 4. Study what is the satisfaction of nursing care for patients after prostate surgeries. Materials and methods. There were 86 participants in total and they were examined in 2nd and 3rd day after prostate surgeries. They were questioned in one of the Vilnius University‘s hospital‘s urology department. Patients have been questioned since december to march. We used a 33 questions questionnaire which we made by ourselves. All the questions were divided into 4 different groups: I group 1-8 questions were meant to find out the demographics, II group included questions 9-17 and they were meant to identify most frequent nursing problems after prostate surgeries, III part – questions 18-26 – to find out what of the applied practices were used to deal with those nursing problems and IV group – questions 27-33 were made to measure how do patients evaluate nurses and procedures done by them. We used „SPSS Windows 17.0“ and Excel 2007 programs to analyse the statistics. Results. 75 – 80 years old patients had the worst evaluation of their own health (mean rank – 59,00), the best evaluation was made by 49 years old men (mean rank – 16,00). Patients who were graduated from college (mean rank – 59,00), comparing to patients who were graduated from university (mean rank – 16,00), which had the best rating. Married patients gave their health the highest scores of their health (mean rank – 49,79), comparing to other groups patients (single or divorced) - (mean rank – 16,00). Conclusions. 1. The subjective evaluation of patient‘s rates are different depending on demographics: the highest and the best rate of patients health was made by younger than 49 years old patients, by married patients and by the ones who are graduated from university; the worst rates were made by the ones who were graduated from college and the ones who are single. 2. The most frequent nursing problems after prostate surgeries are related to sleeping, moving, urination and evacuation. 3. Nurses do apply the nursing care that patients need. 4. The work of nurses was evaluated as good by patients.
