Ageing anxiety is associated with poorer ageing experience and worse psychological well-being. Most studies have found a link between ageing anxiety and knowledge about ageing, contact with older people and ageism. However, ageing anxiety is a multidimensional construct and further research is needed to understand it in greater depth, covering more dimensions such as neuroticism and attitudes towards one's body. The present study aimed to investigate how ageing anxiety is related to neuroticism and body objectification. The analysis was carried out with 181 participants ranging in age from 18 to 78 years (M = 30.26, SD = 12.93). 143 women (79%) participated in the study. The research was conducted using the Anxiety about Aging Scale, the Neuroticism subscale of the Big Five Inventory and the Objectified Body Consciousness Scale. This study found that ageing anxiety is related to both neuroticism and body objectification. Gender, age, parenthood, religiosity and self-rated health were found to be significant factors in the analysis of ageing anxiety. Neuroticism and body image remained significant predictors of ageing anxiety in the overall model.
