Jaunų suaugusiųjų prieraišumo dimensijų ir humoro stilių reikšmė pasitenkinimui romantiniais santykiais /
Abstract
dc:descriptionSatisfaction in romantic relationships is a key factor in couple stability and longevity (Karney & Bradbury, 1995). As harmonious and satisfying romantic relationships contribute to better physical and mental health (Robles et al., 2014), it is important to consider the factors that can promote positive self-perceptions of the relationship. In studies, satisfaction with romantic relationships is often associated with attachment dimensions, different styles of humor, and age and length of relationship. Nevertheless, the interactions between all these constructs are rarely the subject of research. Therefore, the present study sought to examine the interrelationships between attachment dimensions, humour styles, romantic relationship satisfaction, age and relationship duration. The participants were 116 students (93 females) ranging in age from 18 to 26 years. The questionnaire used was the Humor Styles Questionnaire, a short version of the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale, and the Relationship Assessment Scale. It showed that people who are more likely to use a affiliative humor style and less likely to use a self-defeating humor style, as well as those with lower levels of attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety, are more satisfied with their romantic relationships. Individuals with higher levels of attachment avoidance are less likely to use an affiliative style of humor and more likely to use a self-defeating and aggressive style of humor. In contrast, individuals with higher levels of attachment anxiety are more likely to use self-defeating and aggressive styles of humor. In addition, higher attachment avoidance was found to predict lower satisfaction in romantic relationships.
