Alcohol dependency is one of the most severe social problems. Excessively consuming alcohol persons harms not only themselves but also those around them, especially their children. Children raised in alcoholic families are much more likely to encounter difficulties in various areas of life compared to children from non-alcoholic families, one of which is less researched – relationship difficulties with romantic partners. To reveal the difficulties in forming and maintaining relationships with adult children of alcohol-dependent parents, a qualitative study was conducted. During the study, eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with adult children of alcoholics. The results of the study showed that relationships for adult children of alcohol-dependent parents are ideal when mutual feelings prevail, and a sense of security is ensured. It was found that some respondents enjoy sincere and secure relationships, while the other part engages in short-term, unsuccessful, and disappointing friendships. The characteristics of the partners with whom the participants form relationships were identified – mostly toxic and having harmful habits, but some of them are emotionally mature and family-oriented. It has been observed that the main reasons for relationship difficulties are the examples of unsuccessful parental relationships seen in childhood and parental alcohol dependency. It was revealed that adult children of alcohol-dependent parents face problems in relationships such as avoiding problem-solving, short-term, and toxic relationships, isolation, fear of abandonment, responsibility for another person's feelings, and alcohol-dependent partners. It was found that open conversations with partners, help from specialists, interest in psychological books, and time spent together with partners are essential ways to solve the romantic relationships problems of adult children of alcoholic parents.  .
