Abstract
dc:descriptionRhetoric is the science about language and its usage to achieve certain goals. Rhetoric is crucial in every aspect of life: from the simple conversation to business meetings and joint planning. The TED platform allows competent speakers to speak about their desired topics, in which they have additional knowledge and input. This research examines the rhetorical devices used by TED speakers in their speeches on business topics. Provided theoretical material describes rhetoric and its origin, business language and how it differs from ordinary speech, certain rhetorical devices: phonetic, lexical, syntactical. Practical part analyses specific examples that were used in TED talks related to business: their impact in the speech and their frequency. Research also considers what would happen if rhetorical devices were not used or used less often. The subject of the research, rhetorical devices used in TED talks related to business. The aim of this study to analyze specific rhetorical devices in more detail, analyze their impact in TED talks and find out what rhetorical devices are used most often. Also analyze how certain fragments would change if rhetorical devices were not used. The structure of the work: The Bachelor Thesis consists of theoretical part, empirical part, conclusions. The conclusions summarize the achievements of set goals, and results. It is concluded that rhetorical devices have a positive influence on speech and the overall speaker. The most common rhetorical devices are rhetorical question, anaphora, and hyperbole. Speeches with rhetorical devices were more interesting than those with fewer. This shows that the use of rhetorical devices is nearly necessary to properly convey the theme. Key words: Rhetoric, business language, rhetorical devices.
