Lipidų ir fikobiliproteinų kiekiai gėlavandenių planktono melsvabakterių biomasėje, surinktoje vandens žydėjimų laikotarpiu /
Abstract
dc:descriptionIn today‘s world, climate change and eutrophication are leading to more frequent cyanobacterial blooms, which can have negative consequences. Therefore, it is necessary to find ways to control them. One of these solutions is to collect the excess cyanobacteria biomass during the bloom period using devices designed for this purpose. Cyanobacteria are able to accumulate large amounts of various valuable compounds (lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, pigments etc.) that can be extracted from the biomass and used to produce environmentally friendly products (e.g. biofuels, food supplements, creams, food dyes etc.), thus helping to promote the circular economy. The aim of this research was to evaluate the amounts of lipids and phycobilliproteins accumulated in the biomasses of freshwater cyanobacteria that were collected during the water bloom period and then to compare the results with the amounts of the same bioproducts in the commercial biomasses of Spirulina and Aphanizomenon cyanobacteria, which are used for food supplements. By applying the methods for extraction of bioproducts and determination of their quantity, the amounts of lipids and phycobiliproteins were determined in cyanobacteria biomass, the intervals of which varied with different intensities both between the same species of cyanobacteria dominating the biomass, and between different ones. Biomass analysis with a light microscope showed, that in order to achieve a higher yield of bioproducts, the most suitable cyanobacterial biomasses are those dominated by cyanobacteria of the genus Aphanizomenon - the yield of bioproducts when the biomass is dominated by cyanobacteria of the genus Microcystis is relatively low.
