Geopolitikos ritmu: ryšys tarp pasaulinių įvykių ir svarbiausių žaliavų kainų /
Abstract
dc:descriptionToday's economy needs critical raw materials (CRM), but their supply and the EU's dependence on foreign countries pose challenges. This paper examines how geopolitical risks (GPR) affect the prices of critical resources (namely platinum) using a time series regression model. Understanding this relationship is crucial for policy makers, especially in the light of the recent EU and US legislation on critical raw materials. By quantifying the interactions between GPR and CRM, this study will help policy makers make decisions that enhance the resilience and security of supply chains, thus contributing to the goals of a circular economy and ecology in both regions and help decrease dependence on foreign CRMs. The General Additive Model (GAM) will identify the specific GPR factors influencing price volatility, which will enable policy makers to prioritise risk mitigation strategies and ensure a stable supply of CRMs for a sustainable future.
