To assess and compare the postural characteristics of obese and normal weight individuals 2. To assess and compare the gait characteristics of obese and normal weight individuals Materials and methods: The study was conducted from September 2023 to April 2024 at the Department of Rehabilitation Physical and Sports Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Vilnius University. The study included 15 obese and 15 normal weight subjects ranging in age from 18 to 65 years. The study used stride length, stride width, the Tinetti scale to assess gait and the W.W. Hoeger frontal and sagittal plane postural assessment. Data analysis was carried out using the statistical analysis software 'R commander' and 'MS Ofiice Excel'. Results: During the study, it was observed that both groups had individuals with increased cervical lordosis, lumbar lordosis and sacroiliac kyphosis. In the study group, individuals also had increased thoracic kyphosis. All subjects in the control group had no risk of falls. Although the results were similar in the obese subjects, one subject stood out and had a very high risk of falling. Gait was also assessed using stride length and width parameters, which showed that the subject group had too low stride length and too high stride width. Conclusions: 1. Obese people are more likely than those of normal body weight to have postural problems such as: head position, increased cervical and lumbar lordosis, increased thoracic and sacral kyphosis. 2.
