Abstract
dc:descriptionIntroduction: It is important for nurses to be aware of the issues that arise in a patient's post – operative recovery, which can help them to plan their care more effectively, control symptoms, identify other possible post – operative outcomes and avoid certain complications. The topic was chosen to focus on nursing problems after gallbladder removal surgery, their relationship to lifestyle habits and comorbidities, and to assess the actions of the nurse during the postoperative recovery period. Methods and material: A quantitative study was carried out in April 2023 and March – April 2024 using an anonymous questionnaire survey in a health facility. The respondents were interviewed up to 1 – 2 days after gallbladder removal surgery. Conclusion: 1. Patients face a variety of problems after gallbladder removal surgery, as well as physiological and psychological nursing problems. The majority of patients face problems with pain, risk of infection, lack of appetite and anxiety in the post – operative period after laparoscopic gallbladder removal surgery. After open gallbladder removal surgery, the most common nursing problems are pain, risk of infection, lack of appetite and nausea or vomiting. 2. Patients with comorbidities and an unhealthy lifestyle are more likely to have more post – operative problems after gallbladder removal surgery than those with no comorbidities and a healthy lifestyle. 3. In the post – operative period after gallbladder removal surgery, the actions of the general nurse are important in maintaining the patient's physical and psychological condition. The nurse's role in the management of post – operative problems is related to pain relief, providing information to the patient and performing the prescribed procedures. The majority of patients were satisfied with the care provided by nurses during the post – operative period. Recommendations: 1. To reduce post – operative nursing problems after gallbladder removal surgery, promote communication between medical staff and patients, giving patients a sense of security that they can always seek help and openly express all their nursing concerns. It is also recommended that nurses should not only use medication to relieve pain, but also help the patient to find a comfortable position and create a calm environment in which the patient feels more comfortable. 2. In cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, raise awareness of healthy lifestyle issues in the press, during community meetings and mass events related to health promotion and preservation. The dissemination of information can be done in several ways, such as leaflets, press releases, websites, and various visual materials. Information should be presented in terms that are acceptable to the public, clear and understandable. 3. To maximise the opportunities for nurses to expand their competencies by attending conferences, training courses, lectures and other educational presentations, with a particular focus on the nursing care of patients after gall bladder removal surgery.
