Slaugytojo vaidmuo pacientui atliekant endoskopines intervencijas /
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe nurse involved in endoscopic interventions plays a crucial role throughout the entire procedure. The nurse prepares patients for the procedures, provides emotional support, and ensures high-quality care. During the procedure, the nurse assists the physician and ensures the success of the intervention. A competent and well-trained nurse can significantly enhance patient safety and comfort, highlighting the importance of continuous professional development. Research Objective. To examine the role and responsibilities of nurses related to patient care during endoscopic interventions, evaluating their competencies, actions during procedures, and their impact on patient safety and comfort. Methods and materials for qualitative study. Structured interviews were utilised for the qualitative research. The sample consisted of 5 respondents (nurses from the endoscopy department). Data collection for the study began on April 24, 2024, and concluded on May 3, 2024. The data from the qualitative research was processed using content analysis. Results and Conclusions. 1. Nurses in the endoscopy department are responsible for the patient from arrival to departure. They continuously strive to ensure that the patient feels safe and comfortable. Nurse functions include preparation for the procedure, disinfection of endoscopes, sterilisation of tools, assisting the doctor during the procedure, ensuring patient safety and comfort, monitoring the patient after the procedure. The nurse's role is crucial for both the physician and the patient. 2. The preparation in the endoscopy department is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of the procedure. Nurses must be knowledgeable about endoscopic procedures, understand the technical aspects of the procedures, and follow hygiene and sterility protocols. They must be able to quickly and critically resolve any issues that arise. 3. Communication and collaboration of endoscopy department nurses with physicians, other healthcare professionals, patients, and family members help ensure a successful procedure and avoid complications related to the procedure. Communicating with the patient helps to calm and prepare them for the procedure, ensuring they feel secure and relaxed during the process. Recommendations. 1. Continue and deepen research on how the latest endoscopy technologies affect the efficiency of nurse’s work and patient experiences. 2. It is recommended to create and implement specialised training programmes that would help nurses use modern equipment more effectively and apply the latest treatment methods. 3. It is recommended to create informational materials for patients to familiarise them with the process of endoscopic procedures, the benefits provided, and potential risks. 4. Encourage closer collaboration between nurses and other healthcare professionals.
