The aim of research work: determining the correlation between physical activity (PA), cardiovascular, respiratory systems functions of healthy smoking students. Tasks of work: 1. Evaluating the PA of subjects, comparing the results against the norm and between genders. 2. Evaluating the functions of the cardiovascular system of subjects and comparing between genders. 3. Evaluating the respiratory system functions of subjects and comparing the differences between the genders. 4. Determining correlations between subjects’ PA, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Materials and methods: 40 smoking students participated: 22 females, 18 males. The study was conducted during January – March 2024, at the Vilnius University, Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Rehabilitation, Physical and Sports Medicine. PA was assessed using IPAQ – short version, based on which METs – min/week were calculated, smoking – by Fagerstrom test, cardiovascular – by Ruffier’s test, respiratory system functions – spirometry, centimeter tape. Data were analyzed with Microsoft Office Excel 2016, „R commander“ (version 4.3.1) programs. Results: 65% of the subjects had high PA. Compared to the norm (600 MET – min/week), 97.5% subjects meet WHO recommendations (p<0.05). Cardiovascular functions showed an average capacity (10.7), the differences in the Ruffier index (RI) between genders were not significant (p=0.7284). 87.5% of the subjects' FEV1, FVC results were in accordance with the norms, the differences between genders were statistically significant (FEV1 p=4.157e-6, FVC p=6.987e-7). FEV1/FVC of all subjects corresponded to the norm, differences between genders p=0.9783. 75% of the subjects’ chest excursion was within norm, the differences between genders were statistically significant (upper p=3.167e-3, lower p=7.811e-4). There were no statistically significant associations between PA, cardiovascular and respiratory functions. Conclusions: 1. 97.5% of the subjects meet WHO PA recommendations, no statistically significant difference between genders. 2. Tested cardiovascular system function average corresponds to the average capacity based on RI, no statistically significant difference between genders. 3. 87.5% of the subjects’ results of the respiratory system according to FEV1, FVC correspond to the norms, 100% of FEV1/FVC results are within the norm, 75% of the subjects' chest excursion were within norm. Statistically significant differences between genders were found in the results of FEV1, FVC, chest excursions – men's averages were higher. 4. After evaluating the links between PA, cardiovascular, respiratory systems, statistical significance was not determined.
