To analyse the effectiveness of aerobic exercise, muscular strength training, yoga and pilates in controlling gestational diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods: analysis of scientific literature using PubMed, ScienceDirect, ClinicalKey, Springer Journals databases and search engines. The main keywords used in the search were: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, Different Forms of Physical Activity for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Management, Glycemic Control, Exercise for Diabetes Mellitus Control, Management of Gestational Diabetes. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 187 scientific articles were used. Results/conclusions: Gestational diabetes is one of the most common complications of pregnancy, affecting 14% of pregnancies worldwide. The disease develops as a result of metabolic changes during pregnancy, such as increased insulin resistance and pancreatic &#946;-cell dysfunction or delayed glycaemic response. Older age, excessive pre-pregnancy BMI and gestational weight gain, inadequate nutrition and lack of physical activity are among the most common risk factors. Dietary control, regular physical activity and, if necessary, medical therapy are recommended to keep the glucose levels of pregnant women in the normal range. The involvement and support of the partner during pregnancy is also very important.
