Abstract
dc:descriptionMultiferroics are well known for their spontaneous magnetization and polarization, which make possible the creation of innovative technologies. The dielectric and electric properties of BiMnO3 and (Bi0.06Na0.94)(Mn0.04Nb0.96)O3 ceramics were studied in this work. Complex dielectric permittivity was measured of BiMnO3 in temperatures ranging from 140 K to 500 K and in frequencies from 20 Hz up to 3 GHz. The results of dielectric spectroscopy showed a similar behavior of the ceramic to a ferroelectric relaxor – a broad peak of the real part of dielectric permittivity ε'. In working with the (Bi0.06Na0.94)(Mn0.04Nb0.96)O3 ceramic the same temperature and frequency ranges were studied. It was impossible to univocally determine whether the ceramic is a ferroelectric relaxor in the measured temperatures, as the expected broad peak probably moved to higher temperatures beyond this study‘s scope. Activation energies were found from conductivity that are similar to other familiar ceramics. In higher temperatures, the main charge carriers in conductivity are oxygen vacancies. BiMnO3 had an activation energy E_a=0.376 ±0.03 eV, and (Bi0.06Na0.94)(Mn0.04Nb0.96)O3 had E_a=0.441 ±0.04 eV. In comparison between the studied materials, we see a growth in activation energy when the original ceramic is doped.
