Today's world faces challenges such as rising temperatures, natural disasters, sea level rise, Arctic melting and burning forests. One of the solution to these problems is the Circular Economy. The Circular Economy is a model of production and consumption that involves reusing, sharing, renewing and recycling existing materials or products for as long as possible in order to extend the life cycle of products. The circular economy is one of the promising approaches to addressing climate challenges and promoting sustainable development. This topic is becoming increasingly important as both society and businesses start to pay more attention to sustainability, ecology and resource efficiency. The paper further analyses the concept of circular economy and its importance, the concept of linear economy and its damage. The differences between the linear and circular models are presented. There is considering of the incentives for the circular economy both in the EU and in Lithuania. It also discusses the barriers that slow down the dissemination of CE and make it difficult to apply in practice. A study assessing how different EU countries are approaching the circular economy. Assessing the footprint of consumption and the factors influencing it.
