Rationale: As the number of older people in the world increases rapidly, so does the need to ensure an acceptable quality of life for older people. As research shows that there is not much focus on older people's sexuality in improving their quality of life, this study aims to determine the impact of older people's sexual function on their overall quality of life, and the results could shed light on the importance of sexuality in promoting quality of life in older people. The aim of research work- To determine the impact of sex life on quality of life in people aged 60 and over. Objectives: to measure the sexual function of women aged 60 and over; to measure the sexual function of men aged 60 and over; to measure the quality of life of people aged 60 and over Methods: The study was carried out in primary and secondary health care institutions and online between January 2024 and April 2024. 190 respondents aged over 60 years participated in the study. The survey instrument consisted of three parts: questions on socio-demographic data, the SF-36 questionnaire on health-related quality of life, the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and the male ageing questionnaire (AMS) to assess male sexual function. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out using MS Excel and IMB SPSS statistics software. Results: Men and women rated their sexual function on average 10.51 (SN 5.35) and 14.52 (SN 11.87), respectively, and it was observed that sexual function declined with age in the 60-64 age group, but men and women rated their sexual function better than in the 80+ age group. In the quality of life assessments, it was observed that older men and women rated quality of life slightly better than the average, 56.41 (SN 21.19) and 61.91 (SN 19.31) respectively, but women rated quality of life better than men. When assessing the association between sexual function and quality of life scores, a statistically significant correlation coefficient was found between all quality of life components for both gender. Conclusions: Women aged 60 years and older rated their sexual function as average, with a mean score of 14.52 (SN 11.87). The maximum sexual function score was 34.7 and the minimum was 2. A significant relationship was found between sexual function scores and age: sexual function scores decrease with age. Men aged 60 years and over rated their sexual function the same as women with a mean score of 10.51 (SN 5.53). The maximum score for sexual function was 5 and the minimum was 23. As men get older, their sexual function scores decrease. Men rate quality of life lower than women. The mean quality of life score for men is 56.41 (SN 21.19) and for women 61.91 (SN 19.31). Men and women aged 60 years and over rate quality of life slightly better than average. The study found associations between quality of life and sexual function. The correlation between quality of life and sexual function was found to be statistically significant for men and women at (r-0.579, p<0.001) and (r-0.489, p<0.001) respectively. For men, the strongest correlation is between mental health and sexual function (r-0.656), while for women the strongest correlation is between physical health and sexual function (r-0.479), and for both men and women the lowest correlation is found between social function and sexual function (r-0.372), (r-0.342) respectively.
