Širdies nepakankamumo gydymas oktogeneriniams pacientams /

Heart failure is a pressing problem in our society, which is extensively studied in the scientific literature. Octogenerian patients are often excluded from clinical trials, and current heart failure treatment guidelines do not provide age-related recommendations for the management of heart failure. The aim: To review the literature on pharmacological and physical interventions to treat and control heart failure in octogenerian patients. Methods: During the literature review, an overview, analysis and summarization of scientific research was carried out. PubMed, Google Scholar databases were used for literature search, without limiting the period of publication of scientific articles. Conclusions: The treatment of heart failure for octogenerian patients is complicated by a lack of robust evidence. There are not enough clinical trials to analyze heart failure management for patients aged 80-89 years, especially with preserved or mildly reduced left ventricular ejection fraction. Octogenerian patients often have comorbidities that encourage polypharmacy and adverse drug interactions and unwanted side effects of medications that prevent them from starting and effectively continuing the treatment of heart failure. Octogenerian patients are significantly less treated with drug combinations or targeted drug doses and non-surgical heart failure devices compared to younger patients.
