„AMŽINAS GIJŲ RATAS“ /

Topic of the master thesis – depiction of old Lithuanian deity archetypes with silkscreen technique (a collection of graphic works “The eternal circle of threads”). Theoretical part of this work reviews the researches of Baltic mythology theoreticians with emphasis on gods' personalities and presents the reasons and inspirations of gods' archetypes chosen for the practical work. The work is based on theories of psychoanalyst K. G. Jung and religion phenomenologist M. Eliade. A review of works of several distinct graphic artists who worked with this topic is presented in the context of Lithuanian graphics, as well as search for analogies and niches for novelties; essential similarities and differences of other graphic artists' experiences are discussed, achievements of this work are presented. Theoretical part of the work asserts the semantic connection between the topic of collection of works and chosen technique of performance while seeking to ground hypothesis that silkscreen technique is one of the most agile when depicting thousand-year-old archetypes of old gods that have remained in collective human unconscious. Practical part of the work concentrates on chosen archetypes of Lithuanian gods by uniquely depicting them with silkscreen technique, it also analyses the work experience, presents subtopics of collection of works, their stylistic, compositional, plastic and colour analysis and means of expression. Works and characters of graphic collection are united by a common connection motive and an exceptional feature – duality – of deities chosen to depict is emphasized. The work is illustrated with sketches and photos of process, it is finalized with conclusions, result generalization and a list of references.
