Suicidal Thoughts and Intentions of the Prevalence Among Lithuanian Population Suicidal ideas and intentions are a very sore problem around the world. This problem gets more and more attention from the society and specialists and is a very important index of life quality and spiritual health. In Lithuania the problem of suicides is especially relevant as the suicidal indexes are conspicuous both in the European context and among all countries of the world. In order to avoid an increase in the number of suicides, it is very important to understand the risk factors of this phenomenon and identify the risk groups. The goal of this research is to determine the situation of suicidal ideas andintentions in Lithuania and compare with the situation in 2007. TASKS: To provide the data about the present situation of suicidal ideas and intentions in Lithuania, evaluate the relation between suicidal ideas and intentions and sociodemographic determinants and evaluate the dynamics of suicidal ideas and intentions in 9 years. METHODOLOGY: 1015 15-74-year-old constant inhabitants of Lithuania with different ages, marital statuses and workability were surveyed in the research. The results of the research were compared with the data of analogical research of 2007. RESULTS: The researched were mostly inclined to think about the essence of their life in 12 last months and earlier in their life. High factors of the suicidal risk of the researched became lower when passing to the questions about their suicidal intentions. Ascertaining the relations between the suicidal ideas and intentions and sociodemographic indexes, it became clear that the characteristic of a high-suicidal risk person inclined to the suicidal ideas is the following: an elderly divorced or widow unemployed woman with the secondary education at the most living in a small town. Ascertaining the characteristic of a high-suicidal risk person inclined to the suicidal ideas, it became clear that the person inclined to the suicidal intentions is mostly elderly. Evaluating the dynamics of suicidal phenomena in 9 last years, we determined that there were more researched inclined to the suicidal ideas and intentions earlier. CONCLUSIONS: The researched having participated in the research were more inclined to the suicidal ideas than to the suicidal intentions. Elderly age, small residential place, absence of a partner, unemployment, low education and female sex are related with the high suicidal risk. Compared with 2007, the situation is better now. Then the researched were more likely to the suicidal phenomena and the suicidal intentions were more characteristic to young people.
