Since ancient times, people are looking for ways to protect food from deterioration, improve its taste. So a variety of food additives were used for this purpose. Recently, the society started to discuss about their use and approach to them. The aim of work. To assess Vilnius University‘s Faculty of Medicine‘s and Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics‘ bachelors‘ opinion towards food products containing food additives. The goal of the work. 1. Find out students‘ awareness about food additives. 2. Find out students‘ feature to choose food products . 3. Find out students‘ opinion towards food choice and their nutrition. The methodology of the research. Data was collected by anonymous questionnaire and by online survey. The research was conducted in March 2016. There was used a random probability sampling method. The survey was processed by SPSS 23 software package for Windows, Microsoft Ecel and Microsoft Word 2007. To verify hypotheses chi-square test, Mann Whitney test and Kruskal-Wallis test were calculated. The null hypotheses is rejected when p<0,05. The results. There is not enough information about food additives for 39 % of students. 97 % of women and 87 % of men know that food additives can be artificial or natural. 40 % of students often read the labels. 46 % of women and 35 % of men often read the labels. 20 % of students nutrition assesed as healthy. 74 % of FM and 69 % FMI students rated their nutrition as not very healthy.
