Abstract
dc:descriptionBachelor thesis focusing on the analysis of finance (expenditure, income and debt) and its differentiation of Lithuanian general government in 2002 – 2010.The first part describes what constitutes the finances of Lithuanian general government and the structure of the public sector finances. It also analyses the functions of the state and their financing which must be guaranteed by the government. Furthermore, the expenses of local governments, sources of the revenue collected and opportunities and constraints of borrowings are discussed too. Finally, various authors present their different views about the regional concept and the indicators used to assess the differentiation.In the second part of the dissertation a comparative analysis and assessment of finance (expenditure, income and debt) of Lithuanian general government is carried out. The assessment of regional differentiation is performed using variation coefficient, difference between the highest and lowest values and Williamson’s index. To conclude, there are reasons influencing the largest changes provided during the years of the analysis. Finally, it summarises the biggest variances (discrepancies) of Lithuanian general government finances amongst the regions. Different recommendations are made to reduce the differentiation.
